Large Sterling Silver Georgian Pierced Basket with Repousse Faces & Floral Decor
About the Item
This large and substantial centerpiece basket was made by Timothy Renou of England in 1802 and done in the period Georgian style. The basket is composed of sterling silver and is eliptical in shade with high sweeping handles and ribbed sides. The top of the basket is done with ornate repouse and engrav ed decoration with a foral band and faces on either end. The bottom of the basket is engraved with a stylized fox and dog. The basket is clearly marked with "TR" for Timothy Renou, with the hallmarks for sterling silver and date stamp for 1802. The basket is quite heavy and weighs approximately 925 grams sterling.
