Large Vienna Empire Column Clock With Jacquart Automaton, Around 1820

Splendid Viennese clock, ebonized fruitwood, with four alabaster columns in front of mirrored glass, above, flanking the cylindrical clock case, carved dolphins with new gilding, gilded pewter appliques, as well as a removable gilded pewter front facing with Emperor Franz I of Austria in the midst of Tsar Alexander I and Friedrich Wilhelm III, alluding to the Congress of Vienna, which took place from September 18, 1814 to June 9, 1815, fire-gilt bronze eagle as crowning, original pendulum with nymph on hippocampus. Brass case with white-enamelled dial with black-painted Roman numerals, original 1-day brass rack mechanism with repeater, Jacquemart automaton with two hammering soldiers activated with quarter-hour repeater on hours and quarter-hour strike, 4/4 full striking mechanism on two spiral gongs, hook escapement, thread suspension of the pendulum, running time about 24 hours Made around 1820 Dimensions: height: 57.0 cm / 22.44 in width: 36.0 cm / 14.17 in depth: 12.5 cm / 4.92 in Very good original condition, fully working, pendulum and key present.
