Rare Antique Dutch Silver Heritage Circular Vintage Marriage Box Container

Simply Beautiful! Exceptional and Impressive Fine Antique Dutch Circular Silver Marriage Box. Well made and Finely detailed. Hand engraved ornamental decorations on sectional hinged lid and around the body of the container. Approx. Dimensions: 4.5” Diameter x 1.25” high. Weighing approx. 233.5 g. The Hallmarks at base struck to this Impressive Dutch Silver box correspond to 833 Silver, Holland, circa 1914. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the body are all very clear. An exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Boxes like this were meant to hold a marriage sovereign, presented by a man to the lady he wanted to marry. If she accepted his gift, it was a legally binding acceptance of his marriage proposal. A wonderful addition to your collection!
