Rare Art Deco Sterling Silver Egyptian Revival Pepper Mill
About the Item
Rare, Art Deco Period Egyptian Revival pepper mill, Marcus and Co., New York, Ca. 1920's. Probably inspired by the discovery of King Tut's tomb. The Marcus Company was in business from 1918-1927. Measures almost 4 inches high x 2 1/4 diameter at widest point. Decorated with Egyptian motifs. The pepper mill itself is solid sterling silver. The works are made of steel; the finial is brass. Some minor dints (see photos) commensurate with age and use. Dark areas in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
