About the Item
A magnificent Elizabeth II sterling silver covered bowl by Gerald Benney. This Centrepiece features an elegant lightly hammered bowl with a deep open work cover cast with swirl designs culminating in two hearts, one open and the other with a deep green enamel base. The Bowl functions with or without the cover and is both a function object and a sculptural piece in its own right. It is of excellent quality and notably heavy weight. The Covered Bowl is presented in a Gerald Benney tooled leather bound case with cream silk interior

These magnificent and large antique George V English sterling silver bowls/centrepieces have a compressed circular form onto a knopped pedestal and domed circular foot. The plain body of each piece is encircled with an impressive band of applied and chased olive leaf festoon decoration consisting of overlapping leaf designs with a bead motif to subdivision. Both sides of each piece is further ornamented with exceptional and large applied vacant cartouche bordered with a ribbon tied oak and olive branch, in addition to a scrolling and leaf motif to the upper portion.
