Silver Champagne Wine Cooler by Walter and John Barnard, London, 1889

Silver gorgeous Champagne & Wine Cooler vintage (last quarter of 19th century) of finest appearance ____________________________________________________________ !! SILVER WEIGHT: 27.51 OZ 780 GRAMS !! ____________________________________________________________ Excellently manufactured nicest quite heavy bowl made of massive silver, with two handles ( = highest manufacturing quality !) : The bowl can be used as cooler for champagne or white wine where ice cubes have to be put into. - This elegant silver item has round base / the cooler is abundantly decorated - its surface is worked in finest manner. The decorations were made by chiselled / chasing work: Acanthus scrolls as well as flower's blossoms attached to leavy stems growing out from area below decorate the cooler's part below like a frieze / additionally, there is a bulged border of stylized leaves existing, running around at bowl's upper part two hoisted handles partially covered with so-said pearl ornaments existing. ____________________________________________________________ MADE 1889 branded by UK HALLMARK maker's mark: WBJ into a shield ( = Walter & John Barnard), number 190 / LONDON, dated 1889 branded by UK / LONDON OFFICIAL STAMP: so-said LION PASSANT with year's mark O of 1889 STERLING SILVER (SILVER 925) ____________________________________________________________ MEASURES: HEIGHT: 18.0 cm circa 7.2 inches DIAMETER OF MOUTH: 18.0 cm circa 7.2 inches WIDTH: 30.0 cm circa 12.0 inches (measured from one handle to other) CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION (there aren't any damages existing / there aren't any scratches, any dents or any other imperfections existing) ____________________________________________________________ !!
