Sterling Silver Shell Dish

About the Item

Being offered is a large sterling silver dish by Mueck-Cary Silver. It stands on three feet; one in the front center and the other two in the back on either side. The rim is scalloped and at the top there’s a flat surface for a monogram or inscription. The center is ribbed and deep and can hold a large amount. Whether for use or purely decorative, this is a lovely piece to own.

This sterling silver shell oyster shell complete with figural crab spoon, a diminutive work, yet a captivating piece is a true testament to the artistry of Gorhams American Aesthetic silversmithing. The oval shell is skillfully encrusted with barnacles, creating a mesmerizing texture, and is raised on a smaller vertical rough piddock shell, complete with a rare addition a intertwined rope crab encrusted nautilus spoon.
