Stunning Rare 1979 Solid Sterling Silver Strawberry Dish or Bowl from Sheffield

We are delighted to offer for auction this very rare solid sterling silver Sheffiled made 1979 dated strawberry serving bowl A highly collectable exceptionally rare and extremely well made bowl. This is solid sterling silver, I have a much larger one listed under my other items which is made by Asprey and is a serving dish for a couple of punnets, this is a single person dish for maybe half a punnet The bowl is fully hallmarked with the sideways facing Lion for Sterling Silver, the Rosette for Sheffield, the date letter E for 1979 and PS Ltd for Parkin Silversmiths The bowl is very luxurious, imagine serving strawberry’s in the little rivets around the edge with a tub of cream in the middle to that special someone… The bowl has been lightly polished, its in fine order throughout Dimensions: Height 2.7cm Width 12.5cm Depth 12.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

It measures 14'' in length by 10 1/2'' in width by 1 1/8'' in height, weighs 29.9 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks and engraved inscriptions as shown. Bailey & Kitchen, as it was originally known, was founded in Philadelphia in 1832, by Joseph Trowbridge Bailey (1806-1854) and Andrew B. Kitchen (died 1850). The partnership was dissolved in November 1846. It was reformed with new partners as Bailey & Co. in 1841, and on March 1, 1878, again re-established as Bailey Banks & Biddle.
