Victorian Period Sterling Silver and Peach Enamel, Mounted Crystal Dresser Jar

About the Item

Victorian Period, sterling silver and peach guilloche enamel - mounted dressing table jar, Providence, Rhode Island, Ca. 1895, Foster and Bailey - makers. Sterling silver lid is bordered by peach guilloche enamel that shimmers in the light; center of lid is white guilloche enamel (that also shimmers in the light) decorated with pink enamel roses. Measures 2 1/4 inches high x 4 3 /4 inches diameter. Crystal is cut in a thumb print pattern. Dark spots in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.

This exceptional and unusual antique Victorian sterling silver vesta box has a rectangular, scalloped shaped form. The body of the vesta box is embellished with embossed lobed decoration accented with an applied oval thumbpiece/striker to the anterior side.     A fine antique Victorian silver Castle-top vinaigrette, has a waisted bag form, chased foliate scroll decoration on a matted background, the hinged cover with a view of the Crystal Palace great exhibition 1851 the fine silver gilt interior with a pierced and engraved foliate grille, with a chain and ring attachment.
