Vintage Continental Sterling Silver Water Jug

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage continental sterling silver water jug made in the design style, part of our dining silverware collection. This exceptional vintage European sterling silver water jug has an ovoid rounded form onto a circular spreading foot, all in the design style. The rounded body of this impressive vintage silver water jug is plain and unembellished, with an applied moulded border to the upper rim. This impressive example of vintage silverware is fitted with a plain sterling silver scrolling handle featuring an imposing scrolling upper socket. Condition This vintage silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the foot are all very clear. Dimensions Length from back of handle to tip of lip 15.1 cm/5.9". Diameter of body 11.3 cm/4.4". Diameter of foot 6.6 cm/2.6". Height 17.2 cm/6.8". Weight 11.7 troy ounces/363g. Maker: Unknown.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Italian silver sterling jug. This exceptional antique Italian sterling silver jug has an oval paneled, flared form onto a circular domed foot. The surface of this antique jug is plain and unembellished, with a matte, subtly planished finish in keeping with the patination of a piece from this period. This impressive piece is fitted with an exceptional cast sterling silver scrolling handle, accented with a leaf design emanating from the thumbpiece, this leaf ornamentation comprises the upper terminal. The circular foot is encircled with a band of embossed bead decoration. This impressive antique silver jug has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling standard silver (925/1000). Patination or Patina is a subtle coloration or tarnish which forms on the surface of some metals, produced by oxidation or other chemical processes. A good patina proffers an aesthetically pleasing look. Condition This antique silver jug is a very good gauge of silver and exceptional quality for its type. The jug is in exceptional presentation condition. Italian hallmarks struck to the surface of the jug and rim of the foot are all very clear.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee jug made by Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II; an addition to our antique silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver coffee jug, in sterling standard, has a baluster form. The body of this Victorian coffee jug is embellished with an impressive broad band of bright cut ornamentation depicting connected Grecian figures intertwined with long flowing fabric, all on a matte background. This narrative scene is flanked with an impressive interlacing leaf decorated border to the lower portion and a scrolling Akroter decorated band to the upper portion, in addition to plain moulded borders to the rims. This impressive antique coffee jug is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover encircled with a bright cut engraved undulating band; the flush indicates the high quality of the piece. The cover is surmounted by the original sterling silver finial in the formation of a flower comprised of scrolling leaf designs and textures. The coffee jug retains the original rounded sterling silver handle, incorporating a leaf design to the upper portion and an exceptional leaf design to the lower socket.
