About the Item

A Russian silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel open salt and spoon Moscow, Late 19th Century 2cm high x 5.5cm diameter Beautifully ornate and superbly executed this charming and elegant salt and spoon was made in Moscow towards the end of the nineteenth century, and is fully marked for the maker. Made in silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel, the decoration consists of a band of white circles around the rim, and various tear-shaped and spiral motifs and elements intertwined in blues, purple, red and greens, and is emblematic of late Tsarist Russian luxury, style and sophistication at the time of the turn of the twentieth century.
