Peter & Denise Orlando, Mid-Century Modern ceramic tea set 1960s, Era Capron Free form Ceramic cups and under cups by Peter and Denise Orlando, France 1960s. Glazed in grey with abstract and geometric decoration engraved and over-glazed in orange and black. Ceramics with shapes and patterns characteristic of the work of Denis & Peter Orlando. American-born Peter Orlando (1953-2009) married a Parisian woman he met in France while serving as a soldier in World War II. They will work together on ceramics. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Sèvres workshops, he opened his own studio in Paris, where he produced ceramics from 1952 to 1968, before devoting himself exclusively to painting. These ceramics are very particular, the forms, colors and patterns are directly borrowed from the surrealist style that has strongly marked the artistic production of the artist. Signature ORLA at the bottom. Cups : height: 6.5cm, depth: 9.5cm, width: 16.5cm Subcups: height: 1cm, depth: 15.5cm, width: 19.5cm The set includes 4 cups and sub cups. They are in very good condition despite two small chips.

It is a very beautiful work of glaze, soft and silky, all in delicacy. The dark clay is covered with a glaze in the white-chalk and green-water tones loved by the ceramist.
