Purple Post-modern Tea Pot by Pierre Casenove for Salins Studio, France 1980s

About the Item

Purple tea pot designed by Pierre Casenove for Salins Studio, circa 1980s France. The body of the tea pot has the mass and energy of a streamline locomotive with its steaming spout, embodying an aesthetic of speed and power from the machine age. The flat base paired with the long arched handle looks like a flattening iron, another machine age sign of speed, high temperature and industrial energy. This design captures the spirit of the post-modern age, where power machines inspired an elegantly massive and monumental way of living. The work of french artist Pierre Casenove is a notable contribution to french design, with exceptional pieces for Salins Studios and later for the French company Fondica, and numerous exhibitions of his art.
