Georgian Oval Open Wine Cooler
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Very Attractive 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Oval Shaped Open Wine Cooler Retaining Good Colour And Patina, With Original Brass Bound Decoration And Original Brass Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Stand With Square Tapered Legs And Original Brass Castors. It is most unusual for wine coolers of this period to retain their original stand, but that is very much the case with this particular example and the stand itself even retains it's original brass castors at the end its elegant tapered legs. The cooler itself is lacking its original lead liner with its replacement being a smaller, lower in height, removable zinc tray...

George II Mahogany Wine Waiter or Bottle Carrier
Located in Lymington, GB
An English mahogany wine waiter or bottle carrier / stand. Of superb color and patination. Mid-18th century, late George II period, circa 1750-1760. This rare, larger-than-usual Georgian example, retains its original lion mask gilt-brass mounts, and has survived with its original fretted angles. Rare to find in this excellent condition in view of the considerable use to which it would have put been during the last 260 years. These scarce open-topped Chippendale period wine waiters serve as bottle carriers raised on legs, with brass castors. They were designed to allow bottles to be circulated around a dining room for guests to help themselves. They had divisions, separated from their stands, and also had a central arched-shaped carrying handle. When not-in-use these wine waiters, or wine wagons...

A delightful 18th century mahogany oval open wine Cooler having original brass bound decoration and Original brass carrying handles housed on original Square leg stand with pierced corner brackets (This beautiful oval wine cooler is raised on its original stand which is relatively unusual with many from this period having lost their stands. It is also a particularly nice quality stand made from rich, dense and well patinated mahogany. The pierced corner brackets are also a lovely addition. The cooler itself has lost its original lead lining tray and this has been relatively recently replaced with a smaller removable tray which still allows it to be used for storing bottles or standing small plant pots...

Wine Stand in the Manner of Thomas Chippendale
Located in Greenwich, CT
A possibly unique George III wine stand in the manner of Thomas Chippendale, the pineapple finial over fluted column over three chamber bottle holder with original brass liners, the edges deeply molded, over another fluted column over dish turned top, the final graduated shaft supported by carved and scrolled legs having original leather barrel castors, the whole fashioned from richly grained mahogany. This bottle stand shares many features found on documented examples from Thomas Chippendale's workshop. A similar husked pineapple finial, for example, can be found on a firescreen at Dumfies House and lanterns at Nostell Priory and Harewood House. The three graduated fluted columns with turned collars are similar or identical to many in Chippendale's oeuvre, such as that on the tea tables at 19 Arlington Street, Aske Hall and candle stands at Paxton. The three legs though are by far the most compelling reasons for a Chippendale attribution. Based on manuscript drawings at Harewood House (illustrated Christopher Gilbert "Thomas Chippendale". 464 & 466) many candle stands or "fly tables" have been attributed to Chippendales...
