Acoma Olla 'Storage Jar', Polychrome with Abstract Foliate Motif Earthenware

About the Item

Acoma Olla (storage jar), Polychrome with abstract foliate motif. Earthenware with slip glazes, dimensions measure 11 ½ inches tall and 11 inches diameter. An earthenware Jar constructed by hand and painted with slip glazes in an intricate design of black over white with a characteristic red under-body and interior. Acoma Pueblo is located in New Mexico approximately 60 miles west of Albuquerque. Jars, or Ollas, such as this were used for carrying water.
