About the Item
This is a beautifully crafted bronze bust of French Artist Mafai 1900 victorian period. This piece is a stunning replica of the original in the statue garden in France. Cast in bronze and patinated, this magnificent work looks great on any shelf. His face has been given life and vigor by the movement and texture of his hair, forehead, and high cheekbones. A fantastic example of that period in France was when artists lived as dandies, wearing top hats and colorful frock coats with all manner of kerchiefs pinned to their lapels. This artist is pictured with a black cape draped over his shoulder.
