Mid-Century Modern Skeletal Wire Rod Abstract Sculpture

About the Item

An amazing spider's web of a rollercoaster of design and line. This sculpture is just as delicate and light filled like a spider's web. A work that reaches, careens, and zigzags Constantly changing maze of line and perspective. Comprised of welded metal rods and airbrushed in different colors. Circa 1960. Good overall condition with all welds intact. Some minor rust and pitting, but that just adds to the piece's outsider art charm. Clipped corners on the piece's base. Reminiscent of a small skeletal sculpture by the artist, Lee Bontecou. Approximately 11" x 14" x 18.5" high.

    Jacob Semiatin (1915-2003) Mid Century Modern large abstract painting. Circa 1970-80. Acrylic on stretched canvas. Signed lower right, Semiatin. Good original condition. No rips, tears or restorations. Unframed. Approximately 1" deep x 42" wide x 28" high. Ask Art Bio: Jacob Semiatin was an American painter working in watercolor, acrylic and oil. Born in Ireland to Hungarian Jewish parents, his family immigrated in 1920 to New York City, where he spent the rest of his life. In the early years of his career (late 1930s and 1940s) he exhibited with the Brooklyn Society of Artists. After serving in the military during World War II, he returned to New York and switched from figurative to abstract painting. His first solo exhibition of abstractions was held at the Contemporary Arts Gallery in New York. Semiatin also exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, which today has his work in their collection.
