18th Century Memento Mori Carving Shelf Calvarium Ledge Macabre Curio Antique

About the Item

A finely carved Memento Mori base to hold the holy cross, now hangs to make for a decorative wee shelf. Original polychromed painted decoration, European in origins, age related wear knock and abrasions. Evidence of some elderly wood worm, now long vacated. circa 18th century in age 20cm in width 17cm in height 12.5cm in depth
