About the Item
Dating from possibly the Victorian period, this Folk Art styled carved and hand painted wooden sculpture depicts an effigy of a Wild West Sheriff hanging with his hands behind his back the exact origins of this piece are unknown, but is presumed to be made in the United States based on the subject matter and the star on the belt buckle. The type of wood used in this carving has not been determined, nor has undergone carbon dating, but is dense and heavy. The noose has been added recently for effect or display and presentation.
