Baoulé Wooden Statues Africa Ivory Coast, Set of 2

About the Item

Baoulé, Wooden statue Africa Ivory Coast The Baoulé (or Baule) are an Akan people and one of the largest groups in the ivory coast. The Baoulé are farmers who live in the eastern side of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). The Baoule people are represented by religion, art, festivals, and equal society. There are more than sixty-five different Akan-speaking ethnic groups living in Cote d’Ivoire. They live essentially in the middle of the Cote d’Ivoire between the Comoé river and the Bandama river. Polychromy in traditional African art: African wooden statue with patina whose polychromy has been very well preserved. It is similar to the stylistic current that represented the European settlers present in Côte d'Ivoire in the middle of the 20th century. This particular statuary came into existence following the passage of Westerners whether on commission, as a souvenir or in order to parody the sunburned skin of white people.
