Early Twentieth-Century Finely Carved Small Chair
About the Item
This early twentieth-century small chair displays a beautiful form. Typically low to the ground, such chairs are found among the Dan and Baule cultures in the Ivory Coast. Carved from a hard brown wood, the chair consists of a curved back support and four short supporting legs with notched designs. As a result of use and handling over time, the surface of the chair has developed a wonderful lusty patina.
