Old Toraja Tall Bamboo Rice Container with Wood Top, Indonesia

About the Item

Old well used tall rice container carved from bamboo, with wood top from the island of Toraja, Indonesia. Early to mid 20th century or earlier, with deep dark patina from traditional use. Old stable cracks at base. Separately carved and attached by string wood top. Fine braided design around container in two bands. 17 1/4" high.
