Handmade ethnic aged Borneo Ajat basket made from natural Rattan. Motifs of Burung Kenyalang / Hornbill Bird. Traditional ethnic Borneo woven natural organic fiber rattan basket A very rare and unusual piece of the Dayak Kayan Tribal Art craftsmanship from Borneo Kalimantan Indonesia. This Ajat basket is from Kalimantan Borneo Island is plaited with rattan and hand woven with Dayaks most famous and traditional motif pattern designed. For centuries, Sarawakians have been using intricately woven handmade bag from rattan and bemban reeds. Thus, basket making has evolved from a craft into an art. Collector item, circa 1940s-1950s.
