Diminutive Moulded Copper Rooster Weathervane
About the Item
Folk art rooster weathervanes have been popular since the earliest weathervanes were made in the 19th century, and the term “weathercock” is synonymous with the term “weathervane.”
The small size, use of thick copper and the presence of its original surface are quite enough to distinguish this vane from other rooster vanes, but it additionally features a dynamic tail that truly elevates it above all others in the folk art genre. Where many vanes utilize a sheet metal tail, the tail of this rooster is as fully-molded as its body, and has a sculpted, articulate quality.
