Vintage Weathervane of Cast Iron, Copper, & Brass with Handcrafted Model T Ford

About the Item

This vintage weathervane is made from cast iron, copper, and brass and is a rare piece of American folk art. This weathervane consists of a 19l0 Model T Ford that is crafted from cast brass and copper sheeting, welded together with upscaled brass fittings and sundries such as bullet casings. The metalwork is impeccable and wrought with detail, including the stippled running boards, inside seating, and finer model details. The last picture illustrates an actual 1910 Model T Ford for comparison. The full height of the weathervane is 35 inches, and the car is 18 inches long x 7 inches wide x 10 inches tall. This was an antique barn find from an estate auction and still had bits of straw in the car. The cast iron stand shows some rust, and it looks like it was assembled and greased at one point. However, the lack of weathering and verdigris suggests it has seen little of the outdoors.
