Baltic 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Ormolu And Crystal Chandelier
About the Item
A very unique and elegant Baltic 19th century Neo-Classical st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier. This beautiful eight arm square chandelier has a highly detailed pierced Ormolu central cage with hanging prism cut crystals on all sides. Each side panel is designed with a central reserve of a bust of 'Mercury' with flowing hair and a winged head piece. He is surrounded by a diamond shaped Ormolu band with symmetrical foliate designs. Each corner consists of a horned male figure, 'Vulcan', with a foliate vine hanging from his chin all below two elegant 'S' scrolled electrified arms. Behind Vulcan is a linked Ormolu chain leading up to the top crown. The pierced square Ormolu top crown displays a pierced circular motif decorated by amber colored Crystal beads over hanging prism cut Crystals. Emerging from the top crown are four curved Ormolu structural supports with gentle sprays and additional hanging prism cut Crystals, amber spheres, and rosettes.
