Circa 1900 French Gothic Style Wrought Iron Chandelier
About the Item
A beautiful example of the Gothic style, from circa 1900 France, this wrought iron chandelier has six luminaires, each surrounded by an amber reflector. All luminaires are set within two bands of angular crenellation and trefoil arcading. The main body of the chandelier is adorned with a tall ring of tracery between two more bands of trefoil arcading, with the sections between the luminaires protruding. Twelve twisted rods extend upwards, connecting to six pierced trefoil gravity hooks, which are anchored to the six additional twisted rods that affix to a stylized foliate crown beneath a leaf canopy with a thick chain. An ideal illumination source for a larger room, such as an entry hall, library, or den, our Gothic-style chandelier will be a focal point wherever it is hung.

- Condition:Rewired: Recently rewired for use in American homes, with the amber sleeves being added during electrification. Repaired: Small solder repair to one arm. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good antique condition. Fleabites and minor rubs to curled leaf tips and cusping. Oxidation has given the iron a wonderful brown and gray patina. Professionally rewired for use in American homes, with the amber reflectors being added as well.
