French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu chandelier
About the Item
A monumental and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu chandelier. This large scale twelve arm twelve light chandelier is centered by a topie shaped hexagonal bottom final which hangs from a lower tier with a sunburst designed bottom. The bold hexagonal bottom tier is decorated by mottled edges with each side hosting an electrified arm. Each square 'S' scrolled arm contains lattice designs on each side with a circular palmette designed bobeche and a mottled edge hexagonal candle cup above. Extending upward along the mottled fut is the second tier which is designed similar to the bottom tier with its hexagonal shape and smaller scale 'S' scrolled arms. Extending even further up the mottled fut is the beautifully decorated town crown. The crown shaped top is made of pierced Ormolu movements with scrolling acanthus leaf decorations. The mottled fut extends upwards to the reeded designed top bar which leads into the mottled edge and palmette decorated canopy. The reeded top bar can be sized down to a specific size if needed.
