French 19th Century Renaissance Style Ormolu and Onyx Chandelier
About the Item
A handsome French mid 19th century Renaissance st. ormolu eight arm, twelve light chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a beautiful circular fitted onyx plateau through which the warm glow of the lighting inside can be seen. At the central tier are handsome and most impressive richly chased bearded satyrs flanked by impressive large scrolled acanthus leaves and fine seashell reserves. At the top of each of the eight arms are elegant lightly curved shapes and square designs. To the bottom are fluted patterns and detailed acanthus leaves. Above the four most decorative chains is the square tapered foliate support with additional richly chased acanthus leaves and a striking satin and burnished finish.
