A Grand Paavo Tynell Brass Ceiling Pendant, Idman 1950s
About the Item
A large brass ceiling lamp by the master of Finnish lighting design Paavo Tynell. This sizable brass lamp has a diameter of 60cm and is considerably larger than models more commonly seen of 40-50cm lamps. The pendant has four sockets for lamps and has glass diffusers on the top and the bottom. The brass is perforated with the two dotted pattern. The lamp has a drop of 130cm and would be enough for a big space. However, we have a similar one in stock so we can sell a pair if needed for a bigger space or two different spaces.
The lamp has been fully restored (cleaned, polished and repainted on the inside) and the electric wires updated as it was in a very rough condition. The lamp was sprayed with copper coloured spray and was abandoned in an attic for a long time, as you can see in the picture of before/after. It's a truly wonderful privilege to be able to bring back life to such items and give them a chance to a second home for as many decades as it has served or even more.
