Modernist Brass Sputnik Chandelier W/ Handblown Translucent Murano Glass Discs
About the Item
This dramatic and graphic Sputnik was realized in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production. It features a wealth of brushed brass rods emanating from circular body of the same material. The centers of the discs are embedded with 24 karat yellow gold flecks imbuing them with a rich organic texture and subtle dynamism, while the perimeters are translucent. This iconic chandelier- made in the same manner for more than fifty years- is as modern looking today as ever before. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. The fixture accommodates six Edison based bulbs providing up to six hundred watts of light.
