About the Item
Here we have an example of Paavo Tynell`s genious as a designer yet again. In this model ceiling lamp one can have as little as 3 hanging shades or as many as 12 . I have personally seen this model with 3, 6, 7, 9 and 12 hanging shades. Of course the 12 shade version is just huge, and requires a big living room.
These lamps are suitable for private homes as well as public buildings and office`s or hotel lounges and similar areas. The light filtering through the holes in the brass gives a sense of warmth and cousiness.
In case one is looking for more than one lamp, we do have another almost identical one also with 6 hanging shades, and one with 7 hanging shades. All are manufactured by Taito in the early 1950s.

- Condition:Rewired: Brass has been polished at some point, with some patina coming back already. The wiring has been changed. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. The overall impression is good.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
