A Pair of Paavo Tynell "Starry Sky" Ceiling Lamps 9068 in Original White
About the Item
The Starry Sky is one of the most iconic designs of Paavo Tynell's lamps. It was made by both Taito and Idman in many different sizes. The way the light filters through the grill and the holes on the sides makes the ceiling look like a starry sky. Because of it's small size and sophisticated look this lamp is suitable for any interior. This is a perfect pair in original condition.
White and black were the 2 dominant colors used in the middle of the 20th century. But as the trend is nowadays to repaint in brighter colors, we chose to leave these in their original white color, since repainting is pretty easy.
Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York. Tynells ability to breathe life into his work has been almost unparalleled to this day.
