About the Item
H 125-225 cm W 65 cm D 25 cm
Material: cast iron base, satin black lacquered aluminum, chrome-plated brass mounting with gooseneck, renewed textile-coated connection cable, E 27 socket with original toggle switch.
Condition: good original condition
Special features: with few signs of wear. Height-adjustable work and reading lamp with gooseneck, designed by Christian Dell around 1928 for Belmag, Zurich. Signed BELMAG 281 under the base and with sales mark SCHALK Zurich on the side of the base. Completely preserved in its original condition in all surfaces and in all parts, no dents, only very slight loss of paint. Some extensive rewiring due to the height adjustment. Perfectly usable.
About this object: We were able to acquire a rare design icon from a collector: Christian Dell collaborated with BELMAG Zurich in the production of his TYPE K table lamp, originally designed around 1926 for Christian Zimmermann Frankfurt. However, floor lamps with much larger shades with adjustable reflectors were also produced by BELMAG in very small quantities. These lamps are extremely rare and wonderful in terms of manufacturing quality and usability. A sculpture of the new objectivity!
