About the Item
Madison floor lamp (Torchère) by Aldo Cibic for Memphis (1983).
A rare floor lamp from the 3rd Memphis collection of 1983. With a built-in dimmer at its center and a top lighting source which can be oriented and aimed in different positions, this is a beautiful sculptural lighting object by one of the early co-founders of Memphis, Aldo Cibic (Italian).
Cibic started to work with Ettore Sottsass, becoming his partner in 1980, after which the following year marked the creation of Memphis. In 1989 he founded his own studio and at the same time he started to collaborate with various Universities, in particular, Domus Academy, Politecnico di Milano, IUAV of Venice. He is an Honorary Professor at Tongji University of Shanghai.
