Rare large floor lamp designed by Oscar Torlasco and manufactured by Lumi, Italy 1950. This large sized floor lamp has nice proportions and an interesting asymmetrical shape. The large brass base is slightly bent so it will keep its balance with the large dish shaped shade. The shade can be rotated so it can be used as a reading lamp next to a sofa for example. The brass base was recently polished but already got a little patina again. The mint green shade is in original condition and has paint loss which is visible on the pictures. We personally love the characteristics of this paint loss but if wanted this can be professionally refinished. The lamp has nice small details such as the diffuser CAP on the inside of the shade, small brass ball screws and the flat shaped end of the arm where the shade is attached. We assure you this lamp is much more interesting than a picture can tell. Uses 4 E14 bulbs up to 25 watt each. The Italian designer Oscar Torlasco (1934 - 2004) established himself in the 1950s and 1960s designing lighting for different Italian manufacturers. This lamp was manufactured by Lumi which was one of the most innovative lighting design companies in Italy during the mid-century period, together with Stilnovo, Arteluce and Arredoluce they were at the top of the market. This early floor lamp is characterized by its clear and simple aesthetic with a functional feature and therefor one of the most recognizable designs by Torlasco. Where the small table lamp version of this lamp is pretty common, this is probably the first one to reach the market, an extremely rare lamp for a collector of Italian Mid-Century Modern lights. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it.
