A Pair of Paavo Tynell Floor Lamps Model '9628' for Taito
About the Item
A pair of gracefully slim floor lamps with a solid brass shade and a rattan wrapped stem. These lamps harmoniously combine the coldness of brass and natural warmth of rattan to create a design that can enhance the finest of interiors, private or public.
Standing at around 145cm, the visor is adjustable and can be directed in any direction desired. This feature and the height makes it perfect for reading spaces. Beautiful lamps that will fill their spaces and won't be intimidated by any arm chair they might be placed next to.
These beautiful pieces hold the Taito stamp and retain all original parts excluding the renewed wirings. The brass parts have a beautiful natural patina although they have been polished at some point in their history, and the rattan still holds the original lacquered surface.
Perfect beauties that compliment any interior.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
