Antique English Nautical Ship’s Anchor Lantern by E. Bacon & Co

About the Item

VERY LARGE ENGLISH COPPER SHIP'S ANCHOR LANTERN BY E. BACON & CO With original maker's plaque Item # 301GPK23P A very large and beautifully aged ship's anchor lantern by the firm of E. Bacon & Co of Grimsby, England, it has an applied plaque on the front reading ANCHOR and the maker's plaque placed just above this. The overall build is clearly hand-executed with a charming unevenness to cut elements, hinges, banding and other components that showcase the individualized attention in the making of the lantern. Extensive tarnish and patina throughout from a long life at sea - note the chipping to the original glass. Measurements: 29" H (handle raised, 25 1/2" H with handle down) x 13" diameter Condition Report: Extensively tarnished, worn and abraded surface from exposure to the elements during a long life at sea. Extensive chipping to the original lantern glass. Interior oil lamp components untested for functionality and will likely need to be reconditioned if the intent is to use this with oil.
