18th Century Six Italian Gilded Wall Cadleholders Set of Six Foliate Sconces

About the Item

From Northern Italy a rare set of six 18th century gilt wrought iron arms, candle holders, hanging lantern brackets suitable as sconces, if you wire them. These iron arms are fully handmade with curved scrolling iron structure, decorated with  elegant gilt wrought iron acanthus leaves and gildwood balls and bobeches.. Good age related condition, the six arms have the same shape and structure but slightly different sizes, with minor losses, missing giltwood balls in four of item. The gilding of the arms is in good condition, excellent feature in case of their use as sconces, overturning the irons compared to their original use. Some small lacks in the leaves of the crowns of the bobeches, as visible in the picture details. Northern Italy, 1700. Originally these Italian artworks were arms that, fixed in a ring placed on the wall, were used to hold the chains of votive lamps in churches, as attested by the hooks placed at the ends or the pulleys in some of them, suitable for lighting and maintenance of the lamps. We have realized iron wall plates suitable for hanging. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 2/3 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork. Wooden crating would be recommended for a safe shipping.
