Early 19th Century Pair of Bronze Empire Revival Cherub Wall Sconces/Torcherier

About the Item

Pair of heavy solid bronze electrical sconces with a relieve decoration of acanthus leaves and swags that stand out the very shiny surface of the bronze. Very well done highlighted feathers originate from the back of the cherub. From the hands of the cherub comes out two acanthus branches that holds the light bulb sockets. The socket edge is decorated with a chain of leaves and more acanthus bordering. Acanthus leaves symbolizes immortality or enduring life in Mediterranean countries.
