Giacomo Benevelli for Missaglia 'Arabesco' Wall Light Sculpture

About the Item

Giacomo Benevelli for Missaglia, 'Arabesco' wall-mounted light sculpture, metal, Italy, circa 1967 Italian designer and sculptor Giacomo Benevelli (1925-2011) designed this mesmerizing light sculpture around 1967. He is known for utilizing metal as his artistic material and incorporating biomorphic shapes in his work, all in limited edition. "Arabesco" refers to a detailed and extensive use of repeating geometric shapes that cover the surface and often evoke the shapes of animals or plants. The square frame is executed in stainless steel and contains multiple crescent-shaped cutouts that are arranged randomly. The light illuminates the curved lines, reminiscent of the moon's shape. This lighting object engages us with a captivating composition of streamlined forms that simultaneously act as the divining elements of this specific design. Please note that this item is in good, used condition.

Tito Agnoli for O-Luce, wall light, white lacquered metal, teak, cord, brass, plastic, Italy, 1957. Impressive wall mounted light designed by Tito Agnoli, and manufactured by O-Luce. Unique for this item is the combination of elements derived from the 177 A model, designed in 1957, and the 1102 model, designed in 1959. Its arm is an 177 A design and executed in teak, lacquered metal and brass. It features a '1102' pendant hanging on a cord. The cord, directed by a brass tube attached to the wooden arm, leads down where a brass cylinder functions as a counterweight. The brass cylinder keeps the pendant in its position. The design showcases the mechanicals of the lamp, which makes this a very raw yet refined light that would work very well in the living room or as an office light...
