About the Item

Gothic 1 + 2 wall lights by unspecified designer for Lyfa in the 1970s - gorgeous set of two brass wall lamps in near excellent vintage condition. Truly magnificent set of sconces comprised of elegant pointy brass shades on square brass wall mountings. The shades are thin brass plates bend at the middle and extended into a point at the top and bottom, giving them a very stylish expression. The shiny brass surface and the clean yet curvy lines is reminiscent of golden waves on the wall. As these lights lit, the pointy top and bottom gives way for upward and downward directed light, leaving a beautiful sculptural light pattern on the surrounding wall. Narrow peepholes at each side of the shades, gives way for light to be emitted onto the curvy brass shades, emphasizing the wavy shape. Originally produced by Lyfa in the 1970s in three sizes; Gothic 1 (with one pointy shade), Gothic 2 (with two pointy shades) and Gothic 3 (three pointy shade). We have not been able to find any information about the designer behind these timeless beauties. Only thing we know for sure, is the name and the producer. Subtle, yet very captivating sconces that would fit perfectly as accent lights in a living room or hallway, as bedside lights or even in an office space - no matter where you would place them, they are enchanting pieces of Scandinavian Mid-Century design. Condition: This set of Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 are in very good vintage condition with few normal signs of usage and age (few superficial marks on the shades). Label intact on both lights. Please see the photos! All original, but rewired with 1,5 m (4' 11.1") white plastic cord, fitted with on/off switch placed at convenient height at the cord and Euro style plug - which is easily changed to your specific plug. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag. Light source: Three bulbs, Edison screw-fittings (E14/E12 with adapter) Max 40 Watt each.
