Pair 1930s Vintage Original MCM Sconces ADA
About the Item
Priced per pair.
Although from the 1930s these slip shade wall fixtures are showing the distinct trend of what would become known as Mid-Century Modern. During the Great Depression manufacturers began to strip away the exuberant designs of the 1920s in order to cut cost, resulting in the Streamline design and Mid-Century Modern.
These have been re-polished down the center lines and refinished to match the original colors. The glass slip shades are clear frosted which show a warmer in the pictures. Images with out the light bulb on shows the true color of the shades.
Rewired using UL listed parts including code required ground wire.
The backs behind the shades have been treated with a heat resistant silver reflective coating so a lower wattage bulb can be used.

- Pair of 1930s Veronese Glass SconcesBy Veronese, Jean-Gabriel DomergueLocated in New York, NYVéronese was established in 1931 by Marcel Barbier. The firm was unique in having a design office in Paris and a glasswork on Murano. They developed a product line of clear translucent glass that was promoted through extensive advertising, and sold from striking modern showrooms in Paris and Nice. Their master glassblower was Giovanni Veronese, but the name was probably meant to evoke the 17th century Venetian painter Paolo Veronese, who depicted glassware and other luxury goods. Launched during the Depression, Véronese devised a lean business model. Rather than having an in-house art director they commissioned designs from independent architects, like Marcel Roux...Category
