About the Item
A fine and fabulous pair of antique French doré bronze Louis XVI style palatial 4-light wall appliques or sconces, signed and dated by Henry Dasson, 1878. Most likely made and exhibited in the Universal Exposition in 1878. Beautifully hand-chiseled and finely cast with garlands, vines growing upward into arms, Medusa masks in the center of each sconce, and flowing ribbons at the top of each. The sconces still have their original doré bronze fired gilding finished in two-tone gold, matte and burnished doré bronze in excellent condition. Both signed and dated by Henry Dasson.
