Prince De Galles Hotel Elegant Pair of Oxidized Brass Sconces 1940
About the Item
This elegant pair of oxidized brass sconces comes from a set of 70 sconces we acquired from the Prince de Galles Hotel in Paris. The sconce bodies have been oxidized to get a beautiful dark bronze finish. We've had custom silk shades made to match the shape of the original 1940 shade. We have included a photo of original shade in this listing. This set of 70 sconces is the only set that will ever be available on the market from the Prince de Galles. We also have an adjustable bronze desk lamps and bronze and crystal table lamps from the hotel, all from the 1930s. Additionally we acquired all the brass floor lamps from this hotel, and the same era. This model was very popular in France during the Art Deco period, even Roger Berthier, Designer Decorator in the 1950s created the same model with different shades. Ref mobilier decoration n°4 May 1959, P.37. Measurements: 18 3/8" H x 17 3/8" W x 9 1/2" depth. The sconces have been rewired for US.

- Condition:Rewired: Rewired to be used in US with two candelabra sockets. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Good condition, the brass has been oxidized, strong patina, wiring has been redone to be used in US. Some marks and minor scratches on the brass due to the age..candelabra sockets and light bulbs.
