Set of Eight French 19th Century Neoclassical Ormolu Two Arm Sconces
About the Item
A charming and high quality complete set of eight French 19th century Neo-Classical ormolu two arm sconces, attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire. Each sconce is centered by an elegant tapered back plate in the shape of a quiver with a fine bottom acorn finial and the impressive eternal flame above. Beautiful rinceau shaped scrolled foliate designs lead up to the charming cherubs at the center. Each richly chased cherub is leaning forward while holding an intricately detailed snake in each arm with foliate candle cups. A unique model with all original gilt throughout.
