About the Item

Art Deco sconce in clear and white Murano Glass, manufactured in the Zanfirico Technique in the island of Murano, Italy, circa 1930-40. Zanfirico glass consists of fine filigree canes which have been stretched and twisted to form ribbons and patterns. This technique dates to the 16th century. This sconce is published in the Venini Catalogue and was deisgned by Carlo Scarpa, an Italian Arquitect regarded as one of the best Murano Glass masters. A very rare example of the best craftmanship in Murano glass.
