This table lamp is hand decorated with a bird picking on berries, branches and leaves in earthy tones of brown, red, green and blue. Signed 'L. Hjort DENMARK' on the bottom. This tall table lamp is 56 cm tall in all, the ceramic piece alone is 28 cm high, the mounting is made from metal. Made in the 1930s and in very good condition. Sold without the shade. Hjorths ceramic factory is one of the best-preserved industrial monuments in Scandinavia and has been located at the address Krystalgade 5 in Rønne on Bornholm, a small Danish island, since 1862. In the 1880s, Hjort won international recognition. The Hjorth family ran the place until 1993, after which Bornholm's Museum took over the factory. The turntable is the heart of the factory, and the entire factory's production comes through here. The turntable is completely original as it was in the 1860s, when Lauritz Hjorth founded the factory.
