Alfredo Barbini Cenedese Pair Murano Glass Table Lamps Early to Mid 20th Century

About the Item

A pair of circa 1940's / 1950's hand made cased glass table lamps attributed to Alfredo Barbini for Gino Cenedese. This pair of Murano glass table lamps features a glistening gold colored figure in each of the lamps. Dancers. A man and a woman each frozen in a moment of pure blissful joy. Hands raised in the air, gliding as the music fills their bodies. The lamps sit at slightly different heights (about a quarter of an inch difference). I'll list the specific measurements as best I can here: 20.25" high to the top of the socket, 15.5" high to the top of the rectangular glass, 5" width of the rectangular glass, 1.25" depth of the rectangular glass, 12.5" high of the rectangular glass only, 6.5" diameter of the glass half dome base. Each of these cased glass lamps sits atop a half dome and has an original to the period brass fitting for a French wired socket. Each of the cased glass rectangles features a figure, visible from either side and air bubbles within. The two glass half domes have lived life and exhibit wear and tear. One is especially showing its age with worn down chips. I bought the pair anyway because I love objects and I had never seen anything like them before. Imperfections? Well, very little is perfect if you ask me and I see great beauty and a great story in these. You see, I bought the pair at the NYC flea market while on vacation. And in order to get the pair back to Atlanta, I purchased a carry on suitcase and then packed the pair into the suitcase. TSA always has a lot of fun with my luggage. Being an antiques dealer, I'm never really on vacation or away from what I love doing - it simply becomes part of everything I do.
