Commander desk lamp by Bruno Chiarini, 1958
About the Item
A rare desk lamp called Commander. It was designed and made by a small Milanese company named Bruno Chiarini. This manufacturer already existed in the early 1950s and during their active period, they made similar lamps to those of, among others, Biancardi & Jordan, Lumen and Arredoluce. In the late 1950s, Chiarini had a small showroom in Milan where this lamp was for sale.
This Commander desk lamp is made of brass and red lacquered metal. The striking curves and design of the lamp provide an elegant appearance. Despite bearing minor signs of age and use, its overall condition remains remarkably well-preserved.
An advertisement from Domus magazine shows that the lamp was made by Chiarini Milano, but there is also a Stilnovo sticker on the lamp. We assume that Stilnovo purchased these lamps for retail and sold them as their own.
